Knowledge is one of the most crucial aspects of our lives. When we talk about knowledge, we can see that a lot of our lives are spent trying to gain knowledge to improve ourselves. When we talk about what all constitutes knowledge, we can see that there are many things that we can gain knowledge from. In this commentary, I will be talking about three of these.
Object 1: Encyclopedia

One of the basic sources that people use for purposes of information is books. Encyclopedias are known to be books that have knowledge about many different things. All that people need to do is to look up what they wish to find more information about, and that allows them to gain a deeper understanding of things, which is what constitutes knowledge. So from here, we can see that books are a great source of knowledge. From a very young age, parents should inculcate the habit of reading in their young children. The best part about this is that kids are very inquisitive by nature. When they are taught about reading, they can get more information about things, which is again highly crucial to help them form a deeper understanding of things. When people read, they get to understand so many things from so many different perspectives. What is most important for people is to choose the right sources that they get information from. Even when using an encyclopedia, people should make sure that they check who it is by. This is important to make sure that they understand things correctly and are very well-versed with what they are being taught. So, this is one of the most important things there is when it comes to knowledge generation in society. This object was included in the exhibition, mainly because it sheds light on the importance of books as a source of information. It has been this way for quite some time now, and it is important that people continue to use books the same way.

Object 2: Smartphone

In the day and age that we live in, technology has entirely taken over. This means that most of what we know is mainly through the internet. The internet has given us a lot of power in terms of the fact that if we have to find out more about something, all we have to do is look that up on the internet, and we can fully well understand what is being said. So now that we understand this, we can see that smartphones are also one of the most used sources of knowledge. All information that we want to find out is just a tap away from us. All we need to do is search for it and we will find out what we need to know. So here, we can see that smartphones also constitute knowledge for us. They allow us to understand things in the best possible way. Say, we have to find out about the side effects of a certain medicine that we are consuming. All we need to do is open Google and start typing to find out more about it. Instantly, so many web pages will open up. We can open any we like, and start finding out more about it. So from here, we can see that smartphones allow us to have so much information all in one go. We just need to be very sure about what we want to find out. Using the right keywords in the search bar, we can find out about what we need to know.
Object 3: Old person

In the image, a very old person can be seen. The idea behind this image is to show that wisdom is also one of the main sources of knowledge. As we grow older, we tend to understand so many things all at once. How does that happen? Our experience teaches us so much through the course of our lives. We gain so much practical knowledge by doing things a certain way. Many argue that nothing can teach us more than our experience. Our experience allows us to do things a certain way, which is again one of the most important things there is to expand our knowledge base on things. So many of us have grandparents who we sit and talk to, and we get to find out about so many things, just by simply being in their company. They are the ones who tell us all about the lessons that they have learned in life by doing all that they did. This helps us understand things in a lot more detail. For example, my grandparents taught me how they learned the importance of being kind to others. They taught me that if one does bad to someone intentionally, then it does come back to them in one way or the other. They told me about things that they had learned throughout their lives by sharing incidents with me. So from here, we can see what this was all about. We can see how this really made me understand things in a certain context. So from here, I understood the importance of experience and wisdom. On this, Osho says “Don’t try to understand life. Live it! Don’t try to understand love. Move into love. Then you will know – and all that knowing will come out of your experiencing. The more you know, the more you know that much remains to be known.”
So these three objects help us understand what all counts as knowledge, and how this knowledge can be passed on from one to another.
