Resilience; a word that my grandfather always stressed. I lived with my grandfather on the farm, and I always noticed that he worked extremely hard, day in and day out, to provide for all of us. Often in his free time, I sat with him, and he taught me the importance of resilience. He told me that if a person continues to work hard and give his best to what he is doing, then there is nothing that can stop him from achieving his goals. This stuck with me, and I decided that I was always going to work extremely hard towards achieving my goals and never giving up.

Applying to university for higher education is indeed one of the most important decisions that a human being takes in his life. The main reason for this is that it really shapes his entire future in terms of giving him great learning and exposure in the formative years of his life. Going to university is an experience that really affects a person in different ways. Studying economics is something that I have always wanted to do in my life. Not only am I really interested in the subject, but I also believe that learning more about it can make me able enough to one day pursue my business successfully. I believe that to be a successful entrepreneur; it is imperative that I study economics. It will teach me how the forces of demand and supply work in the real world and how one’s business can really be affected by all of these different forces. I believe that my interest in this subject, coupled with my undying resilience, can really help me reach heights I had never imagined I could. I believe that it is when one dreams big that they can actually get to achieving big as well.

Getting into this university has been nothing less than a dream for me. I always had great plans for myself in terms of my future. I believe that being accepted into this university will indeed be one of my top achievements in life. It has a great infrastructure to facilitate student learning, alongside having great faculty, especially for economics, which is what I want to major in. The university’s placement department is also extremely strong, which can increase the chances of better job opportunities ahead. I have gotten most of my primary education from Ukraine only, but I now want to go to the US for my higher education to expand opportunities that lie ahead of me. Having been a homegrown child, I love interacting with people from different backgrounds and cultures. I find the experience to be incredibly enriching. So this opportunity is something that I am really looking forward to. Speaking about my personal characteristics, I can safely say that empathy is one characteristic that is rather overriding in my personality. Ever since I was in school, I was greatly involved in social service. I always felt that by helping those who were less privileged, I felt a sense of self-satisfaction in life, which helped me realize the kind of blessing that we have in life. I believe that giving back to the society that we live in, comes as part of our moral duties of being a human being. Furthermore, it keeps us extremely grounded, as well. Apart from that, I am also a great team player due to my understanding nature. There are so many group projects that we have had to do in school with groups. I have always been able to build a rapport with my team members and set goals that we can achieve with each other’s collaborative efforts.

Last but not least, I am extremely hard working and dedicated. When I set my head to something, I make sure that I achieve it. This is something that my grandfather instilled in me; the power of hard work. I believe that these characteristics can really help me excel in life and climb the ladder of success. I am extremely excited to explore all the opportunities that lie ahead of me.
